Popis:	The synthesis of the title compound, which shares its skeleton with a number of biologically active natural products, is described. The key steps are construction of a 3,4-disubstituted furan by a tandem Diels–Alder-retro-Diels–Alder reaction of an alkyne with 4-phenyloxazole, and an intramolecular Friedel–Crafts acylation.
