Popis: Many studies have been carried out on the electrocatalysis of the surface of Pt single crystal electrodes [l-17], since Clavilier has reported the easy preparation of single crystal electrodes by cutting a Pt small bead [3]. Since electrode behavior is strongly affected by the structure of the electrode surface rather than by the bulk, an electrode showing the same behavior as that of a Pt single crystal should be obtained by covering a polycrystalline Pt substrate with a thin single crystal film. This method could be applied to electrodes of optional shape and size. It has been found in this work that momentary heat treatment at 1400°C allowed the formation from a thin polycrystalline electroplated film, a single crystal film with (100) surface. The effects of current density, temperature and concentration of the electrolyte for electroplating on the preferred orientation acquired in an electroplated film formed under galvanostatic conditions by heat treatment were examined.
