Popis: Maize entered the Southwest during the Chiricahua stage of the Cochise culture about 2000 B.C. but it did not become widespread until a century or two before the time of Christ. This paper examines the circumstances leading to the acceptance and proliferation of maize agriculture by the San Pedro Cochise and its effects on other aspects of their culture, culminating in their transformation into early Mogollon.
