Popis: In this paper, we propose a Bluetooth-based system, called BTGuard, to detect and prohibit driver phone use. Using Bluetooth (BT) to detect phone's location has many advantages, including low cost, low energy consumption, and low latency. For a small confined highly-multipath low-loss environment inside a car, signal attenuation caused by multipath fading and shadow fading may be greater than that by path loss. We propose BTGuard which can automatically sense the vehicle's movement, track phone's location, and prohibit driver phone use. A proof-of-concept prototype is also implemented. Based on comprehensive experiments with various off-the-shelf smartphones, the results show that BTGuard can have a 95% accuracy and low false positive rate.
