This paper presents an image quality improvement approach for extraction of map features based on single and multisensor image enhancement techniques. The approach relies upon the evaluation of sensor imagery for extraction of map features based on its sensor characteristics. The approach will be illustrated by evaluation results for RADARSAT using two visual metrics. Samples of single sensor and multiband enhancement results will be presented for a range of map features.
