Popis: The results of two recent labour market surveys are used to decompose the gross male/female earnings differential into components that can be said to be due to (1) productivity-enhancing attributes and (2) labour market discrimination. Changes in the component aattributed to discrimination over time is documented, and this is compared with the situation prevailing in Greece in earlier studies and with the situation in other European countries. The results show that despite recent increases in female earnings and significant legislative advances, gender productivity differences account for little, if any, of the gross earnings gap.
