Popis: | Summary All strata, including “reef” limestones, between the top of the Chatburn Limestone and the base of the Cephalopod Shales are here designated the Clitheroe Limestone Complex. The complex is of C 2 S 1 age and characterized by intricately related bank, flank, inter-bank and other facies, covering a large tract of the Craven basin. C 2 S 1 uplift of the complex near Clitheroe created an erosion topography locally of high relief. Limebanks and associated sedimentation was resumed at Salthill until conformably overlain by Cephalopod Shales. Elsewhere the Cephalopod Shales rest directly upon the C 2 S 1 erosion surface, overstepping dissected masses of the complex and finally burying the erosion topography. |
