Bandwidth criteria for a multiplexed dot-matrix array in a signal display application

Popis: The ECG monitor based on a flat-panel display is described and a bandwidth analysis of the system is carried out. The industry standard of image presentation is seen to pre-empt other design criteria and determines the sampling frequency. A more general system is proposed and analysed and a general relationship between display geometries, address clock frequencies and system bandwidth is determined. It is shown from this that a flat multiplexed array may be used in a low bandwidth portable field instrument for signal display. A specialized application is demonstrated in the portable ECG monitor featuring a DCEL half-page display.
