Highly efficient concentrator photovoltaic systems (CPV) use an optical concentrator to concentrate the solar radiation onto multi-junction solar cells (MJC) based on III-V semiconductors. Concentrix Solar GmbH is manufacturing and installing FLATCON® concentrating photovoltaic CPV systems. In this paper, the most recent results of the FLATCON® CPV technology are presented as well as field data over more than one year. FLATCON® modules are based on III-V triple junction cells, a Fresnel lens array and a glass cover and bottom plate. In 2008, Concentrix installed a single tracker demo system and two power plants in Spain. The single tracker system with an aperture area of 28.8 m² showed an annual system AC energy efficiency of 20% based on the aperture with maximum system AC power efficiency values of 23%. Similar systems installed in 2009 and equipped with the current FLATCON® module CX-75 achieved system AC power efficiencies of 25%.
