Popis: The paper begins with a brief historical overview of vocational and technical education in South Africa. It then goes on to discuss the current situation with regard to technology education. The Government of National Unity has made a firm commitment towards a more relevant education system and sees technology education as a key element in the proposed restructuring of the South African education system. There is a lack of expertise in technology education and a great deal of debate and uncertainty as to how technology education should best be introduced.
