Very little is known about physical aptitudes to exertion in children and adolescents with Down’s syndrome (DS or T21). In a previous study we reported that DS sufferers without heart disease were able, under training, to perform an incremental exercise test until exhaustion and an endurance test (Eberhard and Eterradossi 1988). The aims of this study are: • To define a number of the physiologic variables at rest and metabolic responses to exercise especially for serum lipid and lipoprotein levels • To suggest training management for these patients, preferably endurance training which seems to give evidence of benefit |
