Phenylphthalamic and hydroxyphenylphthalamic acids form with Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), and Fe(III) complexes of different compositions, the strength of which is determined by the nature of the metal and the functional characteristics of the amido acids. 2. The N atoms of the amide groups of the amido acids and the O atoms of the carboxyl groups or the carboxyl and hydroxy groups are involved in formation of the coordination sphere of the metals.
