Characterization of the CRNA Bonner sphere spectrometer based on 6LiI scintillator exposed to an 241Am–Be neutron source

Popis: In the present work, measurements have been performed using an available multisphere neutron spectrometer based on a calibrated 6 LiI scintillation detector ( 10 mm ∅ × 2 mm ) exposed to an 241 Am–Be neutron source. Sensitive analysis has been performed to assess influence of angle and source–detector distances dependence on the detector responses. Our experimental responses were compared with the published experimental and calculated data for two 241 Am–Be (ISO, PTB) neutron spectra with ( 4 mm ∅ × 4 mm ) 6 LiI detector. A discrepancy by a factor of about two was achieved and it is chiefly due to the difference shown in active surface of both detectors.
