Popis: | Questions concerning the criteria for assessing the material presented in the annals are considered. The main problems that have always faced researchers of the ancient Russian annals are analyzed: the reliability of the chronicle as a historical source (a review of the works of a number of researchers, including the recent book by A.P. Tolochko) and the search for the hidden meaning of the chronicle texts (analysis of the views of I.P. Eremin, S.Ya. Senderovich, and I.N. Danilevskii). The most controversial issues of the textual writing of the annals are considered, in particular, the significance of the pre-Shakhmatov period, the assessment of A.A. Shakhmatov by modern researchers (A.A. Gippius, T.V. Gimon, and others), criticism of Shakhmatov and the rejection of some links of his scheme and the strengthening of others, the ratio of chronicles and general records, features of chronicle writing on parchment, analysis of the language of chronicles, and signs of borrowed text in the annals. |
