Popis: An analysis of the resistance-to-compression characteristics of common merino fleece wools is reported. The average value obtained under these experimental conditions was 10.0 kPa. with 95% of wools lying within ± 2.7 kPa of this value. Resistance to compression is highest among fine, short wools of better style, but, although these factors are highly significant, they account for only 45% of the total variation. Individual sale lots of the same type vary by ± 2.0 kPa about the mean value.
