Popis: | Thermodynamic analysis of NbCr2 intermetallic obtained by mechanical alloying and subsequent hot pressing is performed. High-purity powders of niobium and chromium in molar proportion of 1 : 2 are treated in a ball mill for up to 100 h. Then the powders are sintered in vacuum (1250°C, 0.5 h) at a pressure of 45 MPa. This yields massive nanocrystalline and/or amorphous NbCr2 intermetallic. The transformation of crystalline NbCr2 into nanocrystalline or amorphous intermetallic is studied using methods of x-ray diffractometry or scanning electron microscopy. The semi-empirical Miedema model is used to compute the chemical driving force of formation of the amorphous and crystalline phases. |
