Popis: The stored energy of shock loaded copper single crystals with cube axis and non symmetric orientations relative to the explosive shock wave direction is measured by differential power analysis. Recrystallization and energy release on annealing are strongly affected by a reflected tensile wave from the free surface and are sensitive to initial crystallographic orientation. Lattice defects produced by the shock wave are correlated to the recrystallization behavior. An unexpected endothermic effect is observed in crystals.
