(original designation by monotypy) Etymology The composite epithet of the generic name, Parvipalpus, is a combination of the Latin parvus and the Latin palpus, which means small palp . This name refers to the shape of the mandibular palp, which is noticeably reduced to a small form. Gender is neuter. Remarks Parvipalpus is the monotypic new genus erected with P. holocaudatus sp. nov., and distinguished from other genera of Nuuanuidae, such as Nuuanu and Gammarella in these points: the palp of the mandible is considerably more reduced (not reduced and linear or falcate in the last article of Nuuanu and Gammarella) and bi-articulate (triarticulate in Nuuanu and Gammarella), the outer ramus of uropod 3 is uni-articulate (bi-articulate and the last article is very small in Nuuanu and Gammarella), and the telson is entire (deeply or fully cleft in Nuuanu and Gammarella).
