Improvement of Jc properties of Sm1+xBa2−xCu3Oy superconductors by composition controlled melt growth processes in air

Popis: Sm 1+x Ba 2−x Cu 3 O y (123) superconductors were fabricated by melt processes in air using the initial composition shifted towards Ba-rich from the Sm123-Sm211 tie-line composition. It was noted that a significant decrease in 211 particle size was observed with respect to Ba-enriched compositions. It was also noted that T c and transition width were improved compared to those of Sm123 made from the tie-line compositions. As a result, high J c values of 3 × 10 4 A/cm 2 were obtained under the applied conditions of 77 K and 1 T.
