Popis:	A series of biphenylenes and their π-extended derivatives are easily prepared through tert-butyllithium-mediated cyclization of suitable halobiaryls and haloteraryls, respectively. The reactions proceed via the corresponding arynyl intermediates at low temperature (up to –20 °C).
