Primary health care (PHC) is a desirable orientation of health systems. It is an effective way to meet the population health needs. PHC received a major boost in 1978 at the declaration of Alma-Ata. Later, in 2018 the declaration of Astana brought with it the renewed commitment to PHC focusing on health and well-being for all. Many countries of the world have adopted primary healthcare in varying degrees and in a variety of ways. The specific actions of primary care transformation vary with context. A preliminary search for existing scoping reviews showed no such studies conducted for LMICs. Additionally, it is necessary to study the methods and approaches employed for transformation which has either resulted in a success or failure along with their causes. Hence this study will add to the existing knowledge of evidence based primary care. |
