Popis: | The polarimetric response of a single polygon of the cuticle of the scarab beetle C. mutabilis is studied by micropolarimetry with a high numerical aperture (NA) objective lens. The imaging Mueller matrix and its scalar metrics were determined under a reflection configuration. The images of the Mueller-matrix resemble to some images reported for conoscopy measurements of anisotropic materials. The cuticle of the C. mutabilis was also illuminated with unconventional polarized light using the same experimental setup. Radial and azimuthal polarization states provide additional information to conventional polarized light showing two-fold helix symmetry. |
