Two complexes containing (nBu)2Sn4O4L4 (L = salicylaminoaryl alcohols) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and 1H, 13C, and 119Sn NMR as well as IR spectroscopy. The crystal structure of complex 2.2 was determined by X-ray crystallography. It consists of three, four-member Sn2O2 rings in a ladder-like, structural arrangement with four tin centers, bridged by four, three-coordinate μ3-oxygen atoms. The dimeric distannoxane have two different, pentacoordinate tin atoms, where the Schiff base acts as monodentate ligand. The complexes were subjected to a thiobarbituric acid, reactive substance (TBARS) assay, which displayed a higher antioxidant activity than the α-tocopherol and Butylated hydroxy toluene (BHT), used as positive controls. |
