Popis: Some 470 species (about 22.5% of the total number of the flowering plants represented in the flora of Egypt) constitute the weed assemblages in Egypt. They exhibit great diversity concerning their origin, behaviour, regional adaptation, etc. In total 185 species can be considered weeds of the farmlands of Egypt (Nile-land, Mediterranean coastal land and the oases). They comprise 110 winter, 49 summer and 26 all-year weeds. Among the winter weeds, 96 species are Mediterranean taxa (mono-, bi-, and pluriregional). Most summer weeds (40 species) and about half of the all-year weeds (12 species) are cosmopolitan or semi-cosmopolitan taxa.
