Popis: | It was found that extra absorption spectra appear when 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquino-dimethane (TCNQ), which is a strong π-acid, was solubilized into surfactant solutions above the critical micelle concentration (cmc). The extra absorption bands are caused by charge-transfer interactions between TCNQ as an electron acceptor and the surfactants as electron donors. The intensity of the absorption bands at any wavelength increased linearly with the logarithm of the concentration above the cmc in the concentration ranges studied. We determined the cmc of surfactant by this spectral change method. The results by this method are found to agree roughly with those obtained by measurement of conductance. |
