Popis: The significance of nanocoatings is that they form a protective barrier between the material and the atmosphere serving both the aesthetics as well as preserving the material properties (chemical, mechanical and tribological). Hence, nanocoatings and thin films have a spectrum of applications in the manufacturing sector, tooling, electronics, biomedical, etc. The discovery of 2D materials transpired due to isolated flakes of monolayer graphene obtained when graphite was continually sliced and exfoliated. The sheet-like structure and negligible atomic thickness has given them the label of 2D materials. It is noted that 2D materials exhibit wide range of optoelectronic properties. A material like graphene is biocompatible. Apart from this, high strength and in-plane stiffness with very low modulus of rupture is an encouraging factor for the 2D materials in the fields of biomedicine, electronics, etc. The present chapter briefly explains the coating techniques entailing the properties of 2D materials correlating the relevance of 2D materials as nanocoatings and thin films.
