Popis:	This paper discusses new developments in the area of selective oestrogen receptor modulators and more specifically raloxifene. The most exciting of these developments is the observed reduction in the risk of breast cancer in postmenopausal women on raloxifene therapy. The license of the product has now been extended to cover treatment as well as prevention of osteoporosis. Furthermore, raloxifene appears to have a positive impact on the serum lipid profile and there are continuing trials investigating whether these changes translate to a reduction in cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.
