Popis: Electrical fields generated from cathodic protection systems occur not only on the structure’s surface but in the surrounding electrolyte. The value of off-board and on-board fields are determined by the combined effects of strength and spatial orientation of sources and sinks on the structure and in the surrounding region. Typically shipboard ICCP system analysis, either computational or experimental, deals with a single ship far from any sources and sinks that are not directly attached to the ship structure. In this work the authors use boundary element methods to generate preliminary analyses of the effects of a source in the surrounding media on both the calculated fields on the structure and the off-board fields measured near the structure. This work is scoping analyses designed to help design experimental work investigating the effects of off-board sources.
