Popis:	Preparation of salicylic and acetylsalicylic acid esters via esterification and alkylation of the salts with alkyl halides has been examined. The effect of the alkylating agent nature and the reaction conditions (catalyst and solvent) on yield of the target products has been elucidated. The biological properties of the resulting compounds can be modified by varying the nature of the alkali metal cation (K+, Na+, or Li+) of the salt form of hydroxybenzamides.
