Popis: Saussurea Eopygmaea (Compositae) Is Used In Tibetan Medicine To Treat Diseases Such As Jaundice, Diarrhea, and Fever. An 95% Etoh Extract Of The Plant Was Cytotoxic To S-180 Sarcoma and Ehrlich Ascites Carcinoma Cells. The Chcl3-Soluble Fraction Was Further Shown To Have In Vivo Activity Against Both Solid and Ascites Tumours (S-180 Sarcoma and Ehrlich Carcinoma). From The Active Fraction, Two Cytotoxic Sesquiterpene Lactones Were Isolated and Identified To Be Cynaropicrin and Desacylcynaropricrin. Also Obtained Was An Inactive Coumarin, Scoparone.
