Popis: 1. 1. A comparison was made of the effects of alternating current electronarcosis and rectified current electronarcosis as well as chemical anaesthesia on the Ht, Hb, RCC, MCV and MCHC of the tilapia Oreochromis mossambicus . 2. 2. Data obtained showed that alternating current electronarcosis produces results comparable to chemical anaesthesia except for 24 hr Ht values and for the calculated parameters MCV and MCHC. 3. 3. Rectified current electronarcosis resulted in marked deviations from chemical anaesthesia Ht and RCC values, and differed in a number of respects from alternating current electronarcosis in terms of changes induced in some of the parameters. 4. 4. Results support the assumption that alternating current electronarcosis would be the method of choice for use in stress and other studies on O. mossambicus .
