Popis: Publisher Summary This chapter elaborates the continuous recording and analysis of cardiorespiratory variables in ill preterm infants. Periventricular hemorrhage (PVH) is a common cause of death in very preterm infants, and survivors may develop serious neurodevelopmental disorders. Studies with ultrasound have shown that PVH was most commonly first detected 18–24 h after delivery. The system is divided into two sections which include the on-line collection of cardiorespiratory variables by a small dedicated processor, and a larger off-line system performing data preprocessing and analysis. The amplitude frequency histograms of each signal are shown over each hour segment for a number of hours using the three-dimensional plotting technique. Where available, limit values have been drawn over the graphs to aid interpretation.
