Popis:	The effect of surface texture on the corrosion behaviour of steel in 0.1 M NaCl solution was investigated. Specimens were prepared by mechanical polishing with various grits, and surface parameters were measured using a surface analyser. The corrosion potential, polarization resistance and corrosion rate of various surface finishes were determined by the Tafel technique. It is shown that surface parameters have a great influence on the corrosion behaviour of steel and in particular the amplitude parameters have the most significant effects. An attempt is made to quantify the effects of surface finish parameters on corrosion behaviour.
