Lake Ilmen: Determining morphometric characteristics based on a digital model

Popis:	Measurements of depths in Lake Ilmen by an up-to-date depth sounder were used to construct a model of its bed with a spatial resolution of 100 m. Satellite data were used to determine lake shoreline at different water levels. The major morphometric characteristics of the lake were evaluated, including those not determined before. Histograms and spatial autocorrelation functions of depth distribution and lake bed slopes were constructed for the first time. The obtained digital morphometric model is of use for studying the physiographic characteristics and depth distribution in Lake Ilmen and indispensable for climate, hydrological, and paleogeographic studies.
