Popis:	This chapter discusses various aspects of reactions in square planar complexes. The trans effect and its applications in obtaining the desired isomer as a product of substitution reactions are discussed in detail. The Chatt and Orgel theory and the electrostatic polarization theory for explaining the trans effect are included in the discussion. Various mechanisms of the substitution reactions in the square planar complexes are discussed with suitable illustrations.
