Popis: Publisher Summary This chapter discusses different tests for checking the visual field. Visual field testing must include testing the best central vision, that is, the visual acuity. If, with distance glasses, the patient reads down the chart leaving off the first letters of each row with the left eye and the last letters with the right eye, a bitemporal field loss should be suspected. If the same end of the line is omitted with each eye, a homonymous hemianopia is suspected. If the patient cannot read down to 6/6 (20/20), a refractive error should be corrected if present. If the acuity is improved by looking through a 1%-mm pinhole, a refractive error is confirmed and a refraction test is required. In Bjerrum screen test, the screen consists of a black cloth with a central fixation spot and fine stitch markings in circles at 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30°. Many screens have an oval marked at 18° on each side to indicate the blind spots. This test is best used in dull illumination.
