Popis: In strongly interacting electron systems the buildup of correlations can fundamentally alter the nature of the states of the system compared with the metallic systems. Since the strength of the correlations is determined from the competition between the Fermi energy and the Coulomb potential they become increasingly significant for low densities. It is possible to assist the buildup of highly correlated states by introducing an external field, for example a magnetic field.
