Popis: Circadian rhythms have been shown to control development, behaviour, and metabolism in many insects (Saunders, 1982). Due to the wealth of genetic information on Drosophila and its suitability for being genetically manipulated this insect has been used extensively in studies investigating the mechanisms underlying circadian clocks (reviews by Pittendrigh, 1981 and Konopka, 1981). Drosophila has also been proposed as a useful organism in pharmacological studies (Kovac et al., 1979).
