Raman studies of conjugation in polyfluoroaromatic compounds

Popis: Influence of the aromatic fluorine atoms in compounds of the type ArYAr ( Y = -NN-, -NN(O)-,-CN- ) and ArNSO on frequencies and intensities of stretching vibrations of functional groups in Raman spectra has been studied. The stretching frequencies of groups -NN-, -NN(O)-, -CHN-, -NSO are shown to be practically independent of position and number of fluorine atoms, but the intensities do depend. This is attributed to the changed effectivity of conjugation of nitrogen non-bonding electron pair with the aromatic π -system caused by the influence of fluorine atoms.
