Popis: 1. We have studied the effect of the reaction conditions on the mode of condensation of 3-methylbut-3-ene-1-ol with formaldehyde. 2. The decisive factors directing the process towards preferential formation of dioxane alcohol or triol are the ratio of water to formladehyde and of methylbutenol to formaldehyde. 3. We have found the optimum conditions, at which the yield of dioxane alcohol reaches 96% of the theoretical, calculated in terms of methylbutenol.
