L’objectif de cette recherche etait d’identifier les representations associees a l’Ulcere de Buruli et de determiner le vecu de la maladie. Il s’est agi d’une etude prospective qui s’est deroulee dans le District Sanitaire de Sotouboua d’Aout a septembre 2008. Les 35 malades inclus dans l’etude ont ete identifies a partir des registres de consultation chirurgicale de Septembre 2006 a Septembre 2008. Les resultats ont montre que 70% des patients ont consulte a une phase avancee de la maladie, bien apres avoir consulte les traditherapeutes. Cette consultation des traditherapeutes a ete orientee par des interpretations sorcieres (77%). L’Ulcere de Buruli est vecu comme une maladie tres grave (97%), invalidante (91%), et appauvrissante (86%). Les troubles anxieux chez les malades etaient lies a l’evolution rapide des lesions (91%), au cout du traitement (94%), a l’idee de mort 82%, et a la peur de l’amputation (83%). Un renforcement de la prise en charge psychosociale de ces malades s’avere indispensable. Mots cles : Ulcere de Buruli, vecu, representation. The aims of this study were to identify the representation of Buruli Ulcer disease and to determine schedules of living the sickness. It was a prospective study in the Sanitary District of Sotouboua from August to September 2008. The 35 patients were recorded from September 2006 to September 2008 in chirurgical services registers. 70% of patients were medically examined at advance phase of the illness and declared having consulted traditional healers before coming to hospital. This consultation of traditional healers was oriented by witch interpretation (77%). The Buruli Ulcer was experimented as a serious disease (97%), invaliding disease (91%) and impoverishing (86%). Anxiety disorders were associated with fast evolution of injuries (91%), the high cost of the treatment (94%), the fear of amputation (82%).
