Popis: | This study deals with the exudates of Ficus iyrata with an attempt to concoct the purified gums into nanocarriers for effective drug delivery. The collected gums were intially purified and characterized by UV–Vis spectroscopy (UV-VIS), Fourier Transform InfraRed Spectroscopy (FT-IR), phenol sulfuric assay and Gas Chromatography – Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS) to identify the composition of polysaccharides in the biopolymer. DPPH scavening activity of the biopolymers confirmed their antioxidant activity. The purified gums were then fabricated into nanocarriers using STMP, later were loaded with drug curcumin. Synthesized nanocarriers were charcterized spectroscopically and microscopically. The drug laden nanocarriers measured to a size of about 200 nm and steadily released the drug, curcumin. Both the purified biopolymer and the drug laden nanocarriers were checked for antibacterial activity. The drug loaded nanocarriers showed maximum zone of inhibition against Bacillus sp and Klebsiella sp. |
