Popis: The photo has become iconic – Jean Jaurès grasping a red flag, haranguing a dense crowd at a protest meeting against the three-year law, at Le Pré-Saint-Gervais on May 25, 1913. But the photographer, Maurice-Louis Branger, and subsequent fate of his photograph are less well-known. Frédéric Cépède and Eric Lafon go over its history and the various uses made of this image, whose symbolic power transcends the frame of reference it has for those on the left.
