This study aimed to identify the most prominent self- learning skills of Taibah University students from the perspective of the faculty members concerning shifting towards a professional learning community (PLC). A total of 150 faculty members responded electronically to the list of self- learning skills necessary for university students. The results of the study revealed that there was an agreement among the faculty members regarding nine self- learning skills (somehow existing) and one skill (existing). The results of the Independent Sample T- Test showed statistically significant differences in seven self- learning skills according to gender in favor of female faculty members. Moreover, the results showed statistically significant differences according to specialization in five self- learning skills in favor of the scientific colleges, and one self- learning skill in favor of the theoretical colleges. The study recommended the need to create a supportive learning environment in order to facilitate building a PLC. Moreover, the importance of developing self- learning skills of university students to raise the level of competencies and skills to meet the demands of the labor market. |
