Thermal CalibratiOn of a Low Temperature Invar Sample Cell for FTIR Spectroscopy

Popis: A sample cell, capable of supporting standard 13 mm diameter pressed pellets, and suitable for mounting in a commercial cryostat, has been constructed of Invar, and fitted with two thermocouple sensors for operating in the range 4.2 < T < 300 K. The thermal lag between the temperature of the experimental sample and the sensor reading has been determined by monitoring four phase changes in covalent solids which can be used as "infrared thermometers". In the temperature range 77 < T < 300 K this thermal lag is less than 0.5 degrees.
