The angular correlation between protons from the ground state 89 Y(p, 2p) 88 Sr reaction, induced by the bombardment of 46 MeV protons, has been measured for protons emitted at symmetric angles and coplanar with the incident protons. The 89 Y nucleus consists of a single 2 p 1 2 proton, that serves as the target in the ground state (p, 2p) reaction, outside a 88 Sr core, which is also the residual nucleus for this reaction. Thus these measurements concern a particularly simple (p, 2p) reaction. However, distortion effects are very important because of the low energies and large nuclei involved in the reaction. Therefore the measurements should serve as a significant test for distorted wave (p, 2p) reaction theories. |
