Popis: The article focuses on the influence of the footing arrangement on the ship shaft line bending. It has been found that on board many modern ships actual length of shaft line tunnel is lowered, that is why revision of the constructive schemes of shaft lines for the purpose to lessen the number of shaft line footings is one of the important tasks. It should be noted that minimizing the footing number will lead to decreasing friction losses, weight of the propulsion unit, costs of the construction and labour intensiveness of assembling, as well as to improving flexibility of the shaft. The article presents the comparative analysis of the influence of number and position of footings on the beam bending. The results obtained provide grounds for the statement that at optimal positioning of footings their number can be decreased, which will result in preventing wear, shaft line and bearings jamming, and lessening resonance during ship operation.
