Methods for studying the strength of a weld seam of polymer pipes

Popis: The present work focuses on methods for investigating the strength of the material of the weld produced by the currently most widely used methods of welding polymer pipes – butt welding with a heated tool, welding with an embedded heating element, and fusion welding with a heated tool. The methods under consideration have been developed due to the absence of simple methods of the quantitative evaluation of the strength of the weld material in the normative documents and scientific papers devoted to the investigation of welded joints of polymer pipes, which are necessary for studying the efficiency of the developed technologies for welding polymer pipes at low temperatures in open areas. The proposed methods for determining the strength of the weld can be used to assess the influence of changing welding parameters on the strength of the joint, as well as to assess the strength of the perimeter of welding and the strength in zones of welded joints in case of fusion welding. The same methods can be used for qualification tests of welders.
