This paper describes the development of 25.7GHz Remote Access Unit (RAU) and Out-Door Unit (ODU) for multi-service Radio-over-Fiber (RoF). The RAU and ODU were designed to amplify and convert the 40MHz 5.8GHz 802.11ac signal into 25.7GHz signals for wireless transmission. The development work involves frequency band selection, RAU and ODU system design based on RoF system specification, power budget analysis using spreadsheet, measurement of the total gain and linearity of the RAU and ODU integration. The implementation of RAU and ODU in experimental RoF with wireless transmission showed EVM as good as 3% for 720p video transmission. |
