Popis: | The reproductive phenology of Brownea-rosa-de-monte, known as "Palo cruz" was determined applying a transect method for phenological monitoring. Six trees in a relict forest located along Salinas Creek, in the village of La Carbonera, municipality of Bolivar, Cauca were monitored. . The species has two annual cycles including four phenological stages (foliation, button inflorescence, flowering and fruiting). Analysis of the intensities of different phenological stages and climatic variables suggests an inverse relationship between the timing of flowering and fruiting and temperature and relative humidity. An inverse relationship also exists between the numbers of inflorescences and rainfall. Reproduction in this species is therefore asynchronous and strongly influenced by climatic variables. |
